About Quooker
Quooker is well on its way to conquering the world. Since it was invented in 1970 by Henri Peteri, the boiling-water tap has become an indispensable tool in kitchens worldwide.
Quooker is a family firm based on enthusiasm and entrepreneurship. The pride of Henri Peteri, father of Quooker directors Walter and Niels Peteri and inventor of the boiling-water tap, is still tangible.
The Quooker was the very first boiling-water tap in the world. Inventions like the high-vacuum insulated tank, the all-in-one taps Quooker Fusion and Flex, and the series of black boiling-water taps brought about a revolution in the kitchen. Innovation 'around the sink' continues every day.
Quooker's Revolutionary Idea
Boiling water from your kitchen tap? In 1970, it was quite an absurd idea, but now Quooker is conquering the world. This is what happened.
The story started in 1970. Rotterdam-born Henri Peteri worked for Unilever and visited the head office in London when he had an idea that would change his life forever. It was during a presentation about instant soup. They showed how to dissolve soup in boiling water in just five seconds. 'And to do that, you have to heat water for five minutes?' Peteri thought. 'That's stupid! Why can't we get boiling water from the mixer tap in our homes?!' When he got home, Peteri went down into his basement to develop a prototype of the world's first boiling-water tap. It took a lot of time and money. But when he made the first model, Peteri sold it to friends and acquaintances who were very enthusiastic. Once people had used an instant boiling tap, they couldn't live without it.
When his son Niels finished his studies and joined his father, the idea became a product. In 1992, the Quooker ('quick cooker') was introduced, the Quooker Basic. When his son, Walter, joined the company, Quooker gradually began to gain ground on the market. From 2000, things started to take off. The boiling-water tap became a success in the Netherlands. In 2004, he exported the first batch of Quookers abroad.
Now, Quooker produces 110,000 Quookers a year. There are over 2000 dealers, the turnover doubles every two years, and we have factories in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Norway, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Sweden and Switzerland. This is the result of years of development, testing and technical innovation.
The Peteri brothers always aimed to produce the most sustainable, energy-efficient and high-quality product. Now they head an internationally successful company. But, continuing in the spirit of their late father, they are still innovating.
Niels Peteri: 'The fact that more people embrace the Quooker as an indispensable tool in the modern kitchen is reflected in the sales, which are soaring. We're very proud of that. However, resting on their laurels is not an option. We want to keep innovating. For example, we can think up original solutions by developing our production resources.'
Quooker boiling water is about to conquer the rest of the world. The ambition: to supply as many private kitchens as possible with boiling water smartly and responsibly. To achieve that, Quooker in Ridderkerk, Holland, has 300 people working on new technical ideas and design solutions to make the taps even more efficient, even easier to use and even more attractive.

Quooker's Sustainability
You use less water and energy.
When you dispense water from your Quooker tap, you use the exact amount of water you need. Unlike with a kettle, people often boil more water than required or decide to re-boil it because the water has cooled down, wasting lots of energy!
Quooker's patented vacuum tank allows for water to be kept at 110 degrees under pressure. This technology keeps the water hot without needing to use much energy. Think of it as an electrically powered flask that no energy can escape. The water only boils when it exits the tap - so it is not constantly boiling inside the vessel.
Our COMBI reservoir has also been awarded Energy Label A. This reservoir supplies boiling water and hot water for washing up. Read more here about how the COMBI reservoirs work.
Sustainable business philosophy
At Quooker, we strive for sustainability in all fields. With people and the protection of the planet at the forefront of our minds. In 2016, our premises were rebuilt and covered with 900 solar panels. This supplies ALL of our energy needs! Our Return and Recover departments recycle old products and manage our waste flows sustainably, complying with the WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Act.
Besides, a Quooker is easy to maintain, which increases its longevity. Our taps typically last between fifteen and twenty years!
Climate change is upon us and shows no immediate signs of slowing down. We must make conscious choices individually to expedite its prevention collectively. We must consume less and make eco-friendly choices. Although it might feel like a luxury to have filtered boiling, chilled and sparkling water on tap, a Quooker is a sustainable purchase. With a Quooker in the kitchen, you save water and energy, and with a CUBE, you help reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles.
Less plastic waste, thanks to the CUBE

Quooker Frequently Asked Questions
Can I adjust the strength of the sparkling water?
No, the strength of the sparkling water is not adjustable.
How should the CUBE be maintained?
Quooker recommends that you clean the fan once a year. Also, it would help if you replaced the filters in the CUBE every year. The CUBE will start beeping, and the CUBE light on the tank will flash to indicate that the filters need to be replaced. You can order these in our webshop.
Can the CUBE be integrated into a Quooker system that has already been installed?
The CUBE will work with any systems produced after October 2017. These taps have serial numbers beginning with QW1 or QW0. The tanks have serial numbers starting with VCW or CCW.
How sustainable is the CUBE?
There is no more need for plastic bottles, and you won't have to throw away used bottles of water because they've been open for too long and have gone flat. With the CUBE, you dispense precisely the amount you need at a given moment. And there is a saving for society too. It will no longer be necessary to transport plastic bottles by lorry.
How much electricity does the CUBE use?
The CUBE requires 230 V and has a wattage of 100 W. What if there is only one socket available? Then we recommend that you use the Quooker power switch.
How many litres of sparkling water does the CUBE produce?
The CUBE keeps 1,5 to 2 litres of sparkling water on hand at a 5 - 12 degrees temperature.
How many litres of filtered chilled water does the CUBE produce?
The CUBE can dispense an unlimited amount of filtered water. The filtered water feed passes through the chilled sparkling water, which reduces the filtered water temperature by around 5 degrees as it is dispensed. Therefore, the filtered chilled water temperature will vary depending on the incoming water temperature and the amount of chilled sparkling water inside the CUBE tank. When emptied, it takes around 40 minutes for the 2 litres of sparkling water to fully cool down again.
How many litres of water can the filters process?
The filters in the CUBE can process around 6,000 litres of water. For hygienic reasons, the filters need replacing after 12 months. You can order a new filter in our webshop.
Is it possible to use CO₂ cylinders from another brand?
Only co2 cylinders supplied by Quooker can be used in the CUBE. No other cylinders are compatible, and they would void the warranty.
What should I do with the used CO₂ cylinders?
Used cylinders must be returned to Quooker, and free service is available to do this. Read more here at the Quooker website.
